Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District encompasses Virginia Beach, and then some. We are aware of the issues with the voting machines that morning, but there was something else even more peculiar.
It is not that a candidate who is currently under investigation for fraud won the primary, though that is bizarre. It is the fact that more voters in each district cast their vote in the congressional primary than the senate.
For instance, Accomack County had an additional 178 votes cast for the congressional primary (2,181 versus 2,003 senatorial primary). Actually, every district with the exception of Newport News had additional votes cast for the congressional race:
Accomack County 178
Hampton City 113
James City County 67
Newport News City 0
Norfolk City 150
Northampton County 66
Poquoson City 68
Virginia Beach City 1612
Williamsburg City 30
York County 187
A total of 2,471 additional votes. So why are there extra votes being cast in one Republican primary and not the other? Good question…
